How to Remove Temporary Tattoos Children love them, parents, not so much. I’m talking about those temporary tattoos. Temporary tattoos start well, if they are small enough and full of bright colors. However, when kids get a very big temporary tattoo, it has dark tones on it, and it starts to age and look dull, I can’t get rid of it quickly enough.

All of these products are not made equal when it comes to removing a temporary tattoo. I have been successful in using olive oil, baby oil, baby wipes and a little elbow grease. Some temporary tattoos are much stronger than others. I would recommend that I start with gentle products to remove the tattoo and build it slowly into very difficult steps. Goo Gone works really well, developing a Goo Gone version that works by removing stubborn belt materials / bandages. Also, just make sure you rub the product on the skin and let it sit for a minute or so before you start wiping.

Not all fake baby tattoos are created equal. Some can be VERY easy to remove easily with a baby wipe, some are cruel. My daughter had a recent fake tattoo (see photo) on her very stubborn arm. We tried to apply alcohol to get rid of it and we were unlucky. I didn’t want to use anything too sharp on baby skin. I went with a gentle choice of baby oil. I rubbed the baby’s oil on the tattoo and let it soak for a minute or so before wiping it gently with a damp cloth. Since then I have used olive oil (and a little elbow oil) to remove stubborn tattoos in equal proportions.
So, if your child gets a temporary stick-on or a fake tattoo on a grain box or a birthday party – there are many ways to get rid of it.
